How To Style Sneakers (+ Shop My Favorites)
Hi! Today I’m talking all about sneakers because they seem to be on everyone’s mind and really have been for seasons. The fashion industry has allowed us the freedom to go more casual and comfortable on our feet, thank you designers!! Social media influencers and websites make the style look so effortless and chic, but in reality, we can’t always pull it off the same at home. So, I’m here to help answer some of your go to sneaker questions that I get from my clients all the time.
Of course not all sneakers are created equal, and to incorporate them into your everyday wardrobes and not look like you are going on a run, you will need to consider how and when you want to wear them.
The Retro Sneaker
The newest sneaker trend is the retro sneaker. Think back to the 80’s and you’ll remember your Converse, Tretorns, Reeboks fondly…well they are back! These are comfortable sneakers that work with jeans, summer dresses, and occasionally your cool high waisted tapered work trouser if that’s your look.
These sneakers are a low profile so don’t really give you height, but they take a basic denim outfit to a very “cool girl” look in an instant. Often these sneakers come in great colors with mixed logos to give your ordinary tee and jeans an envious style vibe.

The Dad Sneaker
The dad sneaker has been around a long time and for good reason. This style gives shorter girls some height, they are usually ridiculously comfortable (or should be), and work great paired with the ever popular wide leg trouser and jean, and also with your favorite skirts and dresses. It’s not a look for the faint hearted as it’s a commitment to wear a heavy, chunky shoe on your foot, but if done correctly it’s a great, laidback, stylish look.
Stylist tip for pulling off the dad sneaker look: Wear it with volume at the bottom, i.e., wide leg pants, aline skirts, or voluminous dress.
