Cayman Island Trip Recap
Hi Friends,
So, I just returned from my extremely relaxing vacation from the Cayman Islands. My husband and I spent 7 days and nights there. We had no itinerary whatsoever, which is honestly not like us. We are planners but we weren’t really interested in doing much other than truly disconnecting and this is the perfect place to do just that. If you are considering going to this beautiful island I thought I would share just a few things we did, what we loved, and what we would change for next time, because we will go back.
First, it’s a 1hr flight from Miami, so this can be a long weekend place for me anytime.
We stayed at the Ritz Carlton on 7 Mile Beach.
What I loved and what I may do differently next time:
The Ritz Carlton properties are always beautiful. Pretty rooms and always great service. They are often though too big for me as they cater to large events and families, and many have residences as well. As a couple we usually prefer smaller boutique hotel experiences. I may check out Palm Heights next time.
7 Mile Beach is peppered with nice beach front condos as well which would be a great stay for families.
The location was perfect and we walked everywhere. We did not rent a car. I’m not comfortable driving on the opposite side of the road as it’s a British island. Taxis are quite expensive there,so the location of the Ritz was great for walking and only about 12 min from the airport!
7 Mile Beach is spectacular! I’ve been to several islands, and this beach was the best for having a narrower beach, meaning, I would get out of my beach longe and in 5 steps was in the water, perfection.
The people were incredible, kind, proud, and so helpful. It’s a very international island so we met people from around the world.
The food and drinks were delicious everywhere we went. This is not always the case on the Caribbean Islands.
What I Wore
Let’s be honest, I was in my bathing suits most of the trip. This was a true beach and relax kind of vacation, so my suit collection got the most wear by far. Outside of that, I packed super lightweight, versatile pieces that could easily be mixed and matched. I kept my palette mostly neutral so everything worked together no matter what I grabbed, and then layered in a few pops of color and fun accessories to keep things feeling fresh from day to day. It’s my favorite way to pack for a trip like this, light, easy, and nothing that requires much thought once you’re there.

The Area:
The airport was rebuilt in 2018 so it’s nice, simple, and very easy. Customs was a breeze. Again, not always the case on other islands.
The Island is voted the safest island, no crime, and the residents are very proud of that fact as we were told by many. They also say it’s a fairly safe island from hurricanes, not sure if that is factual but they haven’t experienced a bad one in many years.
It is also an island with plenty of money, so it’s a pretty island, well-manicured, with many good restaurant options and they are building modern luxury condos on the beach.
It’s a great island to snorkel, scuba dive, and even golf. None of which we really do, so there wasn’t a ton to do as adults, so it was all about the beach for us. There are plenty of tourist things to keep families active for a few days though. We kayaked and paddle boarded but mostly just relaxed! We stayed 7 days, 4-5 is plenty!
